Couple killed, son injured in Vasai hit-and-run case
According to Naigaon police, the deceased, Revantram Suthar, 40, and his wife Saroj, 35, were travelling with their 11-year-old son Bhavesh when the accident occurred at around 5.10am
MUMBAI: A couple was killed and their 11-year-old son injured after a speeding container truck ran over their scooter near Maljipada Petrol Pump in Vasai early Friday morning. The family had stopped by theroadside to put on raincoats after it began raining when the truck allegedly hit them and fled the scene.

According to Naigaon police, the deceased, Revantram Suthar, 40, and his wife Saroj, 35, were travelling with their 11-year-old son Bhavesh when the accident occurred at around 5.10am.
The family, residents of Navghar Road in Bhayandar East, had gone to Tungareshwar temple withtheir relatives on two wheelers. According to police, the group stopped near Maljipada Petrol Pump after it started raining and pulled over to take out their raincoats.
“Revantram was driving the scooter, with his wife Saroj riding pillion and their 11-year-old son Bhavesh also with them. While they had stopped on the side of the road due to the rain, a container truck ran over the couple,” said Sanjay Hazare, senior police inspector, Naigaon police station.
Police said the truck was speeding and the driver fled with the vehicle after the accident.
Revantram suffered serious head injuries, while Bhavesh sustained injuries to his body. Saroj suffered internal bleeding and became unconscious. Employees of a nearby petrol pump helped to rush the victims to Orbit Super Speciality Hospital in Mira Road.
Saroj was declared dead on arrival. Revantram, who was undergoing treatment, died later on Friday night. Police said Bhavesh is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Naigaon police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way in a manner that endangers human life or is likely to cause injury) and 125 (rash or negligent acts endangering human life or the personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Police said they are trying to trace the truck and identify the driver.
