Tainted cop Sachin Waze manipulated Disha Salian's autopsy report: Dad to HC

Disha Salian was gang-raped and murdered at the behest of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, her father's advocate Nilesh Ojha claimed in court.

Deceased celebrity manager Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian on Monday alleged before the Bombay High Court that dismissed police officer Sachin Waze had played a key role in derailing investigation into his daughter’s death in the initial stages.

Waze had manipulated Disha’s postmortem reports to indicate that had she died by suicide, although she was actually gang-raped and murdered at the behest of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, and actors Dino Morea and Suraj Pancholi, Satish Salian’s advocate Nilesh Ojha claimed in court.

How did Disha Salian die?

Disha, who briefly worked with actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad on June 8, 2020. The police registered an accidental death report, but Rajput’s death by suicide six days later fuelled intense speculation about the circumstances leading to the two deaths and a possible link between the cases. The police, however, ruled out any foul play.

Waze, who Ojha claimed derailed the probe into Disha’s death, was officially dismissed from service in May 2021, after being arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly planting an explosives-laden SUV near billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s residence, Antilia, on February 25, 2021.

What Disha's father alleged

Satish Salian’s lawyer claimed the story about Disha’s death by suicide was created and publicised even before the police started their probe.

“But god is kind. A new government came in and reopened the case saying the initial probe was not done properly,” Ojha said. He informed the court that as per the procedure, authorities are bound to conduct a postmortem within 24 hours of a person’s death. But in Disha’s case, the postmortem was conducted three days later, while Rajput’s body was sent for postmortem the very day he died, on June 14,” Nilesh Ojha, the lawyer, said.

In his petition, Satish Salian has alleged that investigating officers had not shared documents and articles included in the final investigation report with him, such as material collected by police during the probe, photographs, videos, panchnamas, CCTV footage, call detail records, forensic reports, post-mortem report, and Disha’s mobile phone and laptop.
