On Sunday, the Delhi police officers visited Mira Road, a suburb near Mumbai, to record the statement of employees of Goodluck Packers and Movers that had shifted furniture and other things from the flat shared by Shraddha and Aftab Poonawala in Vasai, to their Chattarpur Pahari house in South Delhi.

The packers and movers receipt accessed by HT showed that the order was given by Poonalwala on June 5, 2022 to shift all their household items to his Delhi residence, around 18 days after Poonawala had killed Shraddha and dismembered her body parts and stuffed them in a refrigerator.

The Delhi police officers, along with the Manikpur police, have recorded the statement of Govind Yadav from the GoodLuck Packers and Movers to find out what was listed among the things in the 37 packages that were transported by them to his Chattarpur residence from Evershine City in Vasai East where the couple stayed before shifting to Delhi.

Police officers said that Poonawala had planned the move and deliberately went to Mira Road to engage the movers and packers, instead of booking the transportation from Vasai, so as to ensure that the police would not be able to connect the dots, in case he was apprehended.

Till Tuesday, the Delhi police had recorded the statements of 14 people who were relevant for proving Poonawala’s purportedly abusive nature and violent actions reflected during his stay with the murder victim. “We are recording statements of relevant people who can prove that Poonawala had abused Shraddha physically several times before murdering her,” said an officer.

The officer also said that two witnesses had heard from Shraddha that Poonawala’s parents intervened every time he assaulted her, and tried to calm her and convince her to give him another chance and not to leave him or file a police complaint against him. “Poonawala’s parents are witnesses to all the rent agreements of the live-in partner’s rental houses in Vasai and Naigaon and they were constantly in touch with the couple,” said the officer.
