22-year-old woman harassed by men on bike outside Noida high-rise

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly harassed by three men on motorcycles outside a residential society in Noida. Police are investigating the incidents.

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly harassed by three men on two motorcycles outside a residential society under Expressway police station limits on Friday, police said on Monday

Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at the Expressway police station against unidentified suspects under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code on Sunday. (Representational Image)

According to the woman’s complaint, the incident happened when she was taking an evening stroll outside the society around 9pm on Friday.

“Around 9pm, I was walking outside my society on the service lane when two men on a bike came towards me and third one on another bike touched me inappropriately, after which they fled. Around five minutes later, before I could go back to my society, the three men returned on one bike and harassed me again, before fleeing,” said the woman in her complaint.

She further mentioned that she tried to get hold of one of the three, but failed.

“The second time, I tried to get hold of the men but he jerked away and all three fled on the bike. I could not get the registration number of the bike as it did not have a number plate. I request the police to take strict action against the suspects,” she said.

Police said the woman’s father is a colonel in the army and her mother is a doctor.

Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at the Expressway police station against unidentified suspects under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code on Sunday.

“Several teams have been formed to nab the suspects. We are also scanning the CCTV footage from the area to know about the suspects,” said Harish Chander, deputy commissioner of police, Noida.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, the manager of a renowned salon at a mall under Sector 20 police station alleged that she was harassed by her colleague on Saturday at her workplace.

“On Saturday afternoon, a worker from the salon, Deepak, and the assistant manager were standing around chatting. I was also present there and Deepak touched me inappropriately... when I confronted him, he started misbehaving with me,” the complainant said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Sector 20 police station.

“The suspect was arrested the same day police and sent to jail after being produced before a magistrate,” said Rajneesh Verma, assistant commissioner of police-1, Noida.
