Robbers’ gang loot ₹44 lakh on gunpoint from businessman in Ghaziabad

We have formed several teams and are investigating the case to trace the unidentified suspects, Ghaziabad police said in a statement

Three armed men on a motorcycle allegedly robbed a 32-year-old spare parts dealer of ₹44.93 lakh near Raj Nagar Extension on Monday evening, police said, adding they have formed teams to investigate the case and registered an FIR at the Nandgram police station.

According to family members of the victim, identified as Mohammad Farman, he was driving his TUV300 from Seelampur in Delhi to his house in Muradnagar when he reached Raj Nagar Extension around 7.15pm. They added that he was accompanied by Mohammad Asif, their neighbour.

“There was traffic on the main road and my son decided to take another route through Bhatta number 5 (close to Delhi-Meerut Road), which is generally isolated. Within couple of minutes, three men armed with pistols arrived on a motorcycle and stopped the car. They held my son at gunpoint and took away the cash in the bag, his mobile phone and car keys. They did not shoot, though. Two of them were wearing helmets while one had covered his face with a piece of cloth,” Mohammad Fahmid, Farman’s father, said.

“After they snatched the bag, they tried to flee the spot on their motorcycle, but it did not start. They stopped a scooty driver, snatched his vehicle and fled on it. Police later found the scooty abandoned some distance away. My son had collected the money for his business in Delhi,” he added.

He said that the scooty rider called the police .

“We received information abut the incident around 8pm on Monday. The man lost about ₹44 lakh during the incident and we have registered an FIR. We have formed several teams and are investigating the case to trace the unidentified suspects,” Nipun Agarwal, DCP (city 1) said in a statement issued by the Ghaziabad police.
