The Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (Yeida) on Tuesday decided to revise the urban town planning building bylaws, so it can approve maps of buildings to be built in the civil aviation hub under development at Jewar along the Yamuna Expressway.

Yeida has earmarked 5,800 hectares for the development of the aviation hub, which includes Noida International Greenfield airport project, maintenance, repair and operations hub.

Yeida, an Uttar Pradesh government body that allots land, regulates land uses and controls development along the Yamuna Expressway, has the onus to approve building maps.

“Our building bylaws have provisions to approve maps and regulate development of group housing, commercial, institutional and industrial units, except the civil aviation hub project. Since our provisions of building bylaws do not cover the aviation hub, we need to revise the bylaws or add a new chapter in our bylaws. Once the bylaws will be revised, then we will be able to approve and regulate development in aviation hub,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of Yeida.

Yeida’s urban town planning department has been told to prepare an agenda in this regard.

“After approving the agenda in the authority board, we will implement it so we can approve developmental projects in the Jewar civil aviation hub, where the work on phase 1 of the airport is underway,” said Singh.

At least 21% of the work at Noida International Greenfield airport project work at Jewar is completed, said officials.

“We need to amend the building laws so we can approve the maps of buildings in the aviation hub and the project can be developed well on time,” he added.
