A track without ballast is being made for Agra Metro corridor while at the Agra metro depot area, ballasted track will be used. A track without ballast requires less maintenance and thus, it is more suitable for metro rail projects, a press statement issued by the public relations office for UPMRC read.
“There is one crossover section (where the train changes track) at Taj East Gate Station and the other crossover section on priority corridor is at Ramlila Maidan near Jama Masjid,” the press statement read.
The test track in the depot is also complete, and will be used for test trials of the metro trains as and when they arrive.
Currently, the track work will be carried out on the elevated section of the priority corridor (Taj East Gate to Fatehabad Road Metro Station) and will then progress towards the underground section.
Presently, the work is on at the first corridor of Agra Metro Project that runs from Taj East Gate to Sikandara. There will be two corridors in Agra Metro Project which will be approximately 29.4 km long, comprising 27 stations.
The priority corridor will have 6 stations, out of which 3 will be elevated and 3 will be underground metro stations.
