“We took a suo motu case and started our investigation. Two more cases from the political parties will be registered,” said Khowai sub divisional police officer Rajib Sutradhar.

The CPM alleged that a group of BJP activists attacked their rally with sharp weapons amid police security.

“They (BJP activists) attacked our rally. Eventually, our party people retaliated in defence. Our five or six people suffered injuries and two of them were sent to hospital. We demand police to take action against them,” CPM leader Pabitra Kar said.

The BJP is yet to react on the incident.
