3-day Bihar Diwas celebrations kick off at Gandhi Maidan

The state is celebrating its 111th foundation day to commemorate the day in 1912 when Bihar was separated from the Bengal Presidency.

To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the contribution of people of Bihar towards development of India.

“Many congratulations to all our brothers and sisters of the state on Bihar Diwas! Famous for its rich history and vibrant culture, the people of Bihar are making incomparable contributions in every field for the development of the country. With their dedication and hard work, they have created a special identity,” he tweeted in Hindi.

The state is celebrating its 111th foundation day to commemorate the day in 1912 when Bihar was separated from the Bengal Presidency.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said, “We started celebrating Bihar Diwas in 2010 in the state. Now, Bihar Diwas is being celebrated in other states and foreign countries as well. Bihar has a glorious history.”

He also referred to the special connection of Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Sufism with Bihar.

Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav said, “Bihar is developing consistently. We are committed to give 10 lakh government jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. We will fulfil our promise soon.”

The CM facilitated Padma Shri recipient and founder of Super 30 coaching institute, Anand Kumar. He also facilitated Dhiraj Kumar of West Champaran and cycle girl Jyoti Kumari of Darbhanga in bravery category while Pal Sakshi of Chhapra in Social Service category.

The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries and marked by performances of renowned singers.

The grand celebration will conclude on March 24.
