Actor suffering from multi-organ failure: Gokhale’s wife
The 77-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital when he complained of difficulty in breathing a fortnight ago
Dismissing reports of veteran actor Vikram Gokhale’s death, his wife Vrushali said on Thursday that he is suffering from multi-organ failure and admitted at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Kothrud.
A statement shared by Vrushali said, “Vikram Gokhale is critical since last 24 hours. Doctors are trying their best. He is not responding to the treatment as expected.”
The 77-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital when he complained of difficulty in breathing a fortnight ago. According to family friend and voiceover artiste Rajesh Damle, “Gokhale’s health deteriorated in the past 24 hours and the doctors are doing their best to treat him.”
According to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital spokesperson Shirish Yadkikar, “A meeting was held between the family members and the treating doctors at 10 am whereupon the hospital said that Vikram Gokhale is on ventilatory support, and that he is very much alive and treated in critical care unit. All efforts are been made for his recovery and news about him being completely comatose and unresponsive are false.”
Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and son of Marathi theatre and film actor, Chandrakant Gokhale, Vikram was also honoured with the National Film Award for best actor for Marathi film titled “Anumati”.
