Four arrested, minor detained in Maval open firing case

Pune: Police arrested five persons, including one minor, for allegedly opening fire during Chandkhed Yatra in Maval area of Pune district on Tuesday, said Police.

The main accused identified as Avinash Gothe of Maval was immediately arrested after the incident along with his four accomplices.
According to the police, the accused allegedly opened fire to create terror among the pilgrims. The mobile video of the incident was circulated on social media.
Vanita Dhumal, senior inspector, Shirgaon police station, said, “We have arrested the four accused and detained one minor. Prima facie it seems that they committed the crime under the influence of alcohol. Gothe is a repeated offender.”
A case has been registered at Shirgaon police station under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 427 (whoever commits mischief and thereby causes loss) of the IPC and the Arms Act.
