Koregaon Park at 44.4°C records 2nd highest temperature in state
Maharashtra experiences a heatwave with temperatures rising to 44.4°C in Koregaon Park and 44.8°C in Jalgaon. IMD has issued a warning for central Maharashtra.
Koregaon Park on Thursday recorded a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which was the second highest temperature recorded in Maharashtra. The highest temperature in state was recorded in Jalgaon, which sizzled at 44.8 degrees Celsius

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for the isolated areas in central Maharashtra and Marathwada region for the next 24 hours.
As the state is experiencing temperature rise since the last two days, many districts are reporting increasing temperatures, which is around 40 degrees Celsius in the state. In Pune, many areas have recorded temperature between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius in last 48 hours. However, on Thursday, the temperature in Koregaon Park set a new record which was 44.4 degrees Celsius. Jalgaon district was the hottest district in state and recorded the temperature at 44.8 degrees Celsius, said IMD officials.
In Pune city, for the past 48 hours, temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius in many areas including Hadapsar, Magarpatta, Shivajinagar and Pashan area. On Thursday, Shivajinagar, recorded temperature at 41 degrees Celsius which was higher by 3.8 degrees then normal temperature.
Speaking about the current weather conditions, Shilpa Apte, meteorologist from Weather Forecasting Division, IMD, Pune said, “Currently cyclone Mocha has formed in Bay of Bengal, However, it does not have any impact over the state. As the humidity level has decreased in atmosphere, the state is experiencing temperature rise in many districts. In next 24 hours there will be heatwave conditions in isolated areas of central Maharashtra and Marathwada region.”
In Pune district, more than 10 places have recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. While 37.1 degrees Celsius was the lowest temperature recorded in Lavasa in Pune district, on Thursday.
