Pune hotel owner, waiter arrested for attacking customer
According to the police, the complainant, Nishant Jadhav and his friends were attacked with sharp weapons, causing bodily harm
The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police booked a hotel owner and waiter for assaulting their customers over a trivial issue of them being too loud while having dinner in the restaurant. The incident occurred on December 9, and the FIR was filed the following day. Both of the accused have been arrested under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 307 (Attempt to murder). It is the sixth such incident, including a murder, to have occurred in the city in the last week.

According to the police, the complainant, Nishant Jadhav and his friends had gone to the restaurant and were having a lively discussion, which resulted in guffaws. The hotel waiter approached them and asked them to reduce their volume, but the conversation continued.
At this point, the waiter and hotel owner attacked them with sharp weapons, causing bodily harm. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition. According to investigation officer Atul Thorat, the hotel owner Raghunath Mangde and waiter Rushikesh Deshmukh were arrested and remanded into police custody.
The frequency of such incidents raises serious concerns about the city’s law and order situation.
On Thursday, a 19-year-old BBA student was murdered while out for a walk with a female friend in Taljai Hills. The victim, identified as Sahil Kasbe, and a friend were chatting in a remote location when three youths arrived. One of them asked Kasbe why he was out with a female friend, while another beat him up and the third stabbed him in the stomach.
In addition, three cases of attempted murder were reported last week in the city.
In the first of these three incidents, a 16-year-old school student was assaulted with sharp weapons by three criminals on Wednesday night in Kothrud. The student was riding home from class when his bike broke down. The Wanwadi police booked an unidentified person in the second of three ‘attempt to murder cases’ after he attacked a resident of the Defence colony, Lullanagar, with a screwdriver.
In the third incident, a 37-year-old woman filed a complaint against her husband for allegedly attempting to murder her at their Sahakarnagar home. According to the FIR, the accused questioned her character and attacked her with the intent to murder her. The husband was later arrested.
