PMC approves ₹61.83-cr for laying water pipelines in Sus, Mahalunge

The work of 24x7 water scheme is underway in the city but while approving the project, 34 merged villages were not part of the scheme

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday approved tenders worth ₹61.83 crore for laying water pipelines in Sus and Mahalunge areas under the 24x7 water scheme.

The work of 24x7 water scheme is underway in the city but while approving the project, 34 merged villages were not part of the scheme.

Recently, Pune district guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil instructed the municipal administration to introduce the 24x7 scheme earlier in Bavdhan and Sus area. As these areas are a part of the Kothrud assembly constituency and Patil is representing the constituency, the administration immediately acted on the instructions.

Vikram Kumar, PMC commissioner, who is heading the standing committee as an administrator has given a nod to lay the water pipelines in Sus and Mahalunge.

Kumar said, “PMC had already started the process of extension of 24x7 water scheme in merged villages. We have appointed a consultant and after we get the detailed project report (DPR), the scheme will be extended to other parts of the city.”
