Pune traffic police holds open discussion with citizens on traffic issues
Citizens from various parts of the city participated in the forum and raised issues about traffic and infrastructure in their respective areas
PUNE: In an initiative taken by Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole, the Pune traffic police department on Wednesday held an open discussion forum with citizens to know their traffic-related grievances. The open discussion forum was held at the Pune traffic police department headquarters in Yerawada. Citizens from various parts of the city participated in the forum and raised issues about traffic and infrastructure in their respective areas.

Shirole said, “From the last many months, we have been following-up with the Pune traffic police department and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) about various traffic-related issues in the Shivajinagar area. These include: P1 and P2 parking to be created, traffic congestion spots, wardens to be deployed at busy chowks, and waterlogging since the monsoon has started. Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Vijay Kumar Magar (sir) responded positively to all our problems and even gave immediate permission for P1 and P2 parking.”
“In Shivajinagar, there are several prominent restaurants and citizens staying around these restaurants have to face traffic congestion on a daily basis as the people throng to these restaurants. Hence, we discussed deploying a warden and other solutions at the forum,” Shirole said.
Amit Deshpande, a resident of Aundh, who participated in the forum, said, “There are some chowks in Aundh where speed breakers need to be constructed. Elderly people cannot cross these roads which we pointed out in today’s meeting.”
DCP Magar said, “The meeting was very fruitful and we openly discussed the issues that citizens face related to traffic. For some of these issues, immediate solutions were provided while some issues need working upon.”
