The preliminary report stated that the accident was not caused due to a break failure, but due to the driver switching off the vehicle on the slope to save fuel.
Ajit Shinde, Pune regional transport officer said, “We have submitted a report to the police and have ruled out break failure as cause of the accident in the report. Now, the police department and other agencies will carry out further investigations and give more details.”
A senior police official investigating the case, requesting anonymity said, “The major reason for most accidents is human error, as drivers neutralise the vehicle or shut the engine. It is necessary to monitor and penalise such drivers.”
