A school bus parked in the premises of a Hadapsar school caught fire on Tuesday morning. No casualties were reported, said officials.

According to fire department officials, they received a call at 11.10 am and officials from the Hadapsar fire department rushed to the spot with one fire tender and six personnels.

Vilas Dadas, a fire official said, “The fire was caused due to a short circuit in the bonnet. We doused the fire in 10 minutes. However, seat cushions, cable wiring, roof were all gutted in the fire.

The bus owner did not have valid permission for transportation of school students, said officials.

Sanjiv Bhor, deputy regional transport officer said, “Our team carried out an investigation of the bus and if was found that the owner did not have valid documents for the said business purpose. After the investigation we will decide further course of action.”
