SPPU forms fact-finding committee to probe bribery allegations
Administration wants to investigate the allegations of accepting a bribe levelled at an university employee by a student
PUNE: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) administration has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the allegations of accepting a bribe levelled at an university employee by a student.

The student, Pankaj Kumar Yenpe, had accused a junior assistant in the academic admissions department of accepting a bribe from him for doing some examination-related work two months ago. Yenpe had also submitted a written complaint in this regard to the university administration. Taking cognisance of the same, the university administration has now formed a fact-finding committee and Yenpe will be summoned before the committee to verify the truth of his claims. A notification in this regard has also been issued.
The circular issued by the SPPU administration department states, “Yenpe had lodged a complaint against Santosh Dnyaneshwar Mahulkar, junior assistant in the academic admissions department, on January 5, 2023 and to verify the allegations, a fact-finding committee has been formed by the university. Accordingly, Yenpe has been called before the committee on February 7, 2023 to give his statement and proofs to the committee.”
Whereas Kuldeep Ambekar, president, Students’ Helping Hand (students’ organisation), said, “Two months ago, a clerk took a bribe from Yenpe and the university did not take any notice of it. After that, when the matter was published in the media, the university wrote to the student on court stamp paper. Even after that, no action was taken against the clerk. Finally now, the university has constituted a committee.”
