Sarbat Da Bhala train to halt at Ludhiana for 10 minutes

The train, which will run via Dhuri, will halt at 11 stations while running from New Delhi to Lohian Khas and at 12 on return journey

The ministry of railways started a new express train, named ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (22479/22480), from New Delhi to Lohian Khas ahead of the 550th birth celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev on Friday. The train, which reached here at 12.25pm, halted for 10 minutes.

Former cabinet minister Hira Singh Gabria and other members of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) reached the station and posed with the train.

The train will depart from New Delhi at 7am and reach Ludhiana at 12.25pm and will arrive at Lohian Khas at 2.55pm. On the return journey, the train will depart from Lohian Khas at 3.35pm, reaching Ludhiana at 5.55pm. It will depart for New Delhi at 6.05pm after a 10-minute halt, reaching New Delhi at 11.35pm.

The train will run on the New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi route —via Dhuri — but it will halt at 11 stations while running from New Delhi to Lohian Khas and at 12 stations on the return journey. Earlier, the Shatabdi used to halt at just five stations.

Kanwaljit Singh, a businessman, said, “I am very excited that the ministry finally started a train for Lohian Khas as, earlier, I used to go to Jalandhar and then take a bus to reach Lohian Khas.”

The Sarbat da Bhala comprised chair car and second seater coaches and around 450 passengers travelled on in the train.

The Shatabdi was running between New Delhi and Ludhiana as 12037/38 on five days a week and two days (Monday and Saturday) between New Delhi and Moga as 12043/44. Similarly, the Sarbat da Bhala (22479/80) will run between New Delhi and Lohian Khas on five days and for two days (Monday and Saturday) between New Delhi and Moga (22485/86).

While running between New Delhi and Lohian Khas (22479/80), the train will halt at Shakur Basti, Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Jind, Narwana Junction, Tohana, Jakhal, Sangrur, Dhuri, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City and Sultanpur Lodhi whereas running between New Delhi and Moga (22485/86), the train will halt at Shakur Basti, Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Jind, Narwana Junction, Tohana, Jakhal, Sangrur, Dhuri, Ludhiana and Jagraon.
