The only thing that remains constant in life is change
‘We love unchanged, change is what we love’ — a well-known entertainment brand’s catchy lines captured my eyes while turning the pages of my newspaper. ‘Change’ has always been an unwelcoming guest in our diaries. It makes us rigid, uncomfortable and surrounding us with fear for losing.
This might be because the outcome of events and result scars us. However, if we go ahead and accept ‘change’ bravely, it will bless us with one more interesting and memorable chapter in life. We often take wrong decisions in life and because of this lose our courage to take risks. We start hating everything that brings ‘the so-called change to our lazy lives. We try to keep us chained in a safe zone instead of sailing through wild winds. Remember, taking wrong decisions are better than no decisions at all. Change is inevitable and this needs to be accepted.
Recently, I met a few people who believe in this notion. A child who cries for the broken toy. A girl who was in a long relationship but refuses to move on, hoping that things will get back to ‘normal’. A group of women, who had been living in the same flat for more than two decades, do not welcome the idea of changing to a new house. They drop the idea of moving and accepting the opportunity to form a new circle of friendship fearing the uncertainty involved in the process.
In a way, it’s not just them, but we all are somewhere either too lazy or scared to bring change into our lives. We should never ignore this fact that ’only change is constant’. We do not belong to the same people, things and places for our survival. As soon as we learn this, our lives will be happier and this will lessen our problems.
