Virat Kohli scored a half-century and smashed his 200th six in the IPL as he and AB de Villiers added 82 runs for RCB’s third wicket. This was after Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch fell to Mitchell Santner and Sam Curran after RCB opted to bat first against CSK. They made one change by bringing Moeen Ali ahead in place of Isuru Udana. CSK made two changes with the inclusions of Santner and fast bowler Monu Singh.
Follow live updates of IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK:
Gaikwad finishes with SIX! CSK win
Chennai Super Kings win by eight wickets. Gaikwad hits a boundary and follows it with a six two balls later to seal the win. CSK make RCB wait with a commanding performance in Dubai. This the CSK we’ve come to known and admire.
Dhoni plays out five DOTS
After a first ball boundary in the over, Dhoni plays out the next five balls without a run. Alright, no worries. Still plenty of balls remain.
FOUR! Dhoni in a hurry
BANG! Down the wicket goes the CSK captain, the ball bouncing just inside the boundary. CSK now need just six. Come on, MS. Will he finish with a six? Something he’s made a career out of.
Clinical effort from CSK, this
It’s come late in the tournament but CSK have finally dished out the kind of performance we have known them for since the last so many years. 17 gone, CSK need 10 off the last three overs, reach 136/2.
Saini bowls a decent over
CSK seem to be in no rus. Four singles off the over from Navdeep Saini. CSK 131/2 after 16 overs. Dhoni and Gaikwad would want to finish and not lose another wicket.
Second match coming up: RR vs MI
Check out our live updates for the second game of the evening between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.
Back to back boundaries for Dhoni
Gets into position quickly and Dhoni pulls the ball fiercely for his first four of this innings. Follows it with another short-arm pull on the leg side and gets another boundary. Dhoni 11 off 7 as CSK reach 127/2. 19 needed off 30 balls now.
FIFTY for Gaikwad
There you have it. First opportunity to open the batting and Gaikwad makes it worth it by cracking a half-century off 42 balls. Great knock under pressure.
BOWLED HIM! Rayudu perishes
Full and straight from Chahal and Rayudu misses the sweep shot. Stumps rattled and RCB get their second wicket. A little too late maybe, one would assume? Not sure, especially if you followed the SRH-KXIP game from last night. CSK 113/2, need another 33 off 38 balls.
IPL Live Updates: How CSK’s first 10 overs unfolded
Missed the highlights of CSK’s first half? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with this short summary of all that happened between Over 1 and 10.
IPL 2020 Live Updates: Where was this CSK hiding all this while?
... asks Mark Nicholas on air and we have to agree. This has been a dominant performance from CSK. a stark contrast to how their campaign has fared in IPL 2020. Rayudu and Gaikwad have added 65 runs off 47 balls to take CSK to 111/1 at the end of the 13th over. Just 35 needed off 42 balls.
Chance! Rayudu survives
Siraj tries the short ball and it almost works. Rayudu goes for the pull but managed a top edge that landed just short of the fielder putting in the dive. To rub salt, Rayudu finishes the over with a massive six. CSK in overdrive, 105/1 after 12.
BOOM! Another boundary
Siraj bowls cross seam and Gaikwad plays a cover drive straight out of the textbook. Left foot reaching the pitch of the ball and the batsman leans into the drive, crashing it for a boundary.
Sundar back, gets taken for a FOUR
First ball of the over and Rayudu brings out the big sweep shot behind square leg. 11 off the over as CSK reach 91/1. Just 55 needed off 54. CSK sure look to be in a hurry
Rayudu cuts, and connects a SIX
No, Navdeep. Not the kind of ball you want to ball. Tries a bouncer but missed his line. Ended up being short and wide and Rayudu latches on to it for a six. The batsman follows it with a boundary two balls later, crashing the ball over the infield. 11 off the over as CSK reach 82/1
Saini given the ball
Kohli switches from spin to pace. Saini in the attack with a hope of picking up a wicket. This partnership between Rayudu and Gaikwad is building steadily, reaching 25 off 25 balls.
SIX! Clean, crisp strike from Gaikwad
This is tremendous stuff from young Gaikwad. Puts pressure early on the bowler as he goes down the wicket to Moeen Ali and clears the boundary. CSK getting a move on as Rayudu edges a boundary later in the over. Nine overs gone and the score is 71/1.
In case you missed it...
FOUR for Gaikwad!
An LBW turned down against Ambati Rayudu who comes a long way down. Single taken and Gaikwad plays the sweep shot effectively to get his second boundary. Eight gone, CSK 59/1, eight runs off the over.
RCB vs CSK Live Score: Good flight, drift from Chahal
He’s really letting them rip, is Chahal. Key passage of play this for both teams. RCB will be expecting Chahal and Moeen to race through their overs, while CSK cannot afford to waste the brisk start du Plessis provided them.
RCB sense it, Moeen in the attack
Three spinners was always going to be tough for CSK and RCB are aware of it. Moeen Ali has been handed the ball with a view to put more pressure on the batsmen. He gives just five off his first over. CSK 53/1 after 7 overs
OUT! Morris gets du Plessis
Faf tries to go over the infield but manages a top edge for Siraj to take the catch. RCB get the breakthrough they wanted. CSK 46/1
Tidy start from Chahal
Just six runs off Yuzvendra Chahal’s first over. CSK have done well to 46/0 after 5 overs
Right then! Chahal introduced
Good call from Kohli to bring his No 1 bowler in the attack inside the Powerplay. Siraj’s wasn’t the over RCB wanted to bowl to CSK.
FOUR, SIX! Du Plessis on fire
On a surface that is slowing down, Siraj is steaming in to du Plessis, who scoops a boundary and hits a bouncer over fine leg for a six. 15 off Siraj’s first over, that’s seven more than he conceded against KKR from his four overs. CSK 40/0 after 4
Right then! Siraj in the attack
Kohli hasn’t taken long to give the ball to his star in the previous match. Siraj, who returned figures of three wickets for 8 runs, gets drive second ball for a boundary by Gaikwad.
SIX! Gaikwad up and away
Wow! How about that for timing? Sundar pitches it slightly full and Gaikwad comes down the wicket and drives in the air. It was so nicely timed that it sailed over the deep extra cover boundary. Terrific stroke. CSK 25/0 after 3 overs
RCB vs CSK Live Score, IPL 2020: FOUR, SIX for du Plessis
After a good start to the over from Morris, du Plessis swings the momentum in CSK’s favour as he finishes the over with a four and six. Misses the yorker, du Plessis flicks for 4, Next ball, goes full and du Plessis strikes it as clear as they come over long on, CSK 14/0 after 2 overs
Morris to bowl second over
He rolls his finger on the ball and the slowness of this surface is evident. The ball barely gets to du Plessis who checks his shot at the last moment.
Splendid wicket-to-wicket line from Sundar
Four dot balls on the trot by Sundar to Gaikwad. He’s darting them in. Gaikwad looking just a little anxious. Just 1 run off the first over. CSK 1/0
No Sam Curran for CSK at the top
Instead, it’s Ruturaj Gaikwad who has walked out to bat along with Faf du Plessis. It hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for Gaikwad, who’s been talked highly. Washy Sundar to bowl for RCB. How good has he been for them with the new ball
Did you know?
Off the last 28 free-hits bowled in the IPL, only two have resulted in sixes. T20, a batsman’s game... what’s that again?
IPL 2020 Live Updates: Santner on playing his first match of the season
Everytime you play, it’s an opportunity. We like giving guys a chance. It was nice to get out there. It’s a pretty solid score, they are playing three spinners. We gotta take it deep. It’s slow spin so maybe change of pace is the way to go. If the rate gets up, it’s going to be tough, need a good start at the stop.”
20 catches for ‘Fabulous Faf’ this IPL season
End of the innings! RCB finish on 145/6
Tremendous comeback by CSK, allowing RCB to score just 20 runs off the final three overs. Mitchell Santner says it’s a tough total, especially given RCB have three spinners in their ranks. How will CSK respond? We’ll be back shortly for the second innings.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: Bowled him! Morris cleaned up
Deepak Chahar keeps it straight and crashes Chris Morris’ stumps. RCB 140 for 6.
OUT! Kohli perishes, CSK come back strong
GONE! This time it’s Virat Kohli who falls in the deep, to a fine diving catch by Faf du Plessis at long off. RCB skipper has to go for 50 off 43 balls. RCB 138/5
FIFTY for Kohli, his third of the season
One more half-century for Virat Kohli as he takes a single off a waist-high full toss. Yes, Curran oversteps but no damage done because he follows it with a snorter to Chris Morris.
OUT! Another one down
Moeen Ali doesn’t last long and falls for 1. Curran gets his second wicket and RCB lose their 4th for 132.
OUT! Huge wicket for CSK as De Villiers goes
An incredible wicket to get for CSK and Deepak Chahar as AB de Villiers perishes in the deep in search of quick runs. He tries to knock one into the stands but holes out to that man again Faf du Plessis, in the deep..
Virat Kohli now moves up to 4th in the leading run-getters list
KL Rahul sits pretty at the top but RCB captain Kohli is slowly climbing up the charts. He now has over 400 runs this IPL.
Kohli goes big
Down the wicket goes Kohli and smacks Jadeja over his head for his first six of the match, which by the way, is his 200th six in the IPL. RCB on the charge.
How much will RCB be eyeing?
With 4 overs to go and two set batsmen in Kohli and de Villiers, expect them to go all out. The current scoring rate is over seven runs but RCB would bank on these two to get them close to 180, which promises to be tough to chase down on this ‘stoppy’ surface.
Monu Kumar gets away after bowling a waist-high full toss
Despite bowling a waist-high full toss, it has been a fine over from Monu Kumar. Bowls a yorker to keep Kohli from scoring off the free hit, but AB de Villiers hit him through fine leg to end the over with a boundary. 13 off that over as RCB reach 114/2 after 16 overs.
Santner, Tahir bowl out; Kumar returns
And what a moment for this man. He is going to bowl to two of the best in Kohli and de Villiers. Real test of character coming up. Starts off with a slower one to Kohli, who takes a single.
Kohli crunches the ball down the ground
After ABD, it’s Kohli’s turn to turn up the head. Finishes the over and Tahir’s spell with a boundary drilled down the ground after coming down the wicket. Tahir goes wicketless for 30 from his four overs.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: FOUR! Slapped by ABD
Genius from AB de Villiers, who hammers another boundary between long off and sweeper cover. Full-blooded drive, right out of the middle of that big MRF. What struggles are people talking about? Then again, he’s been that good for RCB this season.
Another toughie, another drop
Same as before, this time it’s Jadeja, who gets his hand to a bullet drive from Kohli, deflects off it and a single is taken. Five runs off Jadeja’s first over. RCB 86/2 after 13 overs
DROPPED! Tahir puts down Kohli
It was hit hard on the return and even though Tahir tried to get his hands on to it, it touched the palm and went through. A misfield from the fielder almost carries the ball to the boundary before Santner pulled off a brilliant dive to prevent a boundary. Three runs taken. RCB 81/2 after 12 overs.
Running between wickets impeccable between Kohli and de Villiers
When these 2 bat together, expect something incredible. That’s what describes their running between wickets, Kohli and AB de Villiers, as they take RCB to 75/2 after 11. Their partnership has reached 30 off 30 balls.
SHOT from de Villiers!
No handing around even with Tahir operating. AB de Villiers cracks a boundary towards deep extra cover, his second of the innings as RCB get to 72/2 after 10 overs. This, after he almost ran himself out the previous ball after Jadeja’s throw didn’t hit the stumps directly.
What a glorious boundary from ABD
Wow! Simply stunning. Plays the ball inside out along the ground. But the timing and placement on that delivery from de Villiers is impeccable. Imran Tahir chases the ball into the boundary. What a cricketer. Simply outstanding. Nine overs gone, RCB 63/2
Kohli likes batting against CSK
In 24 innings, Kohli has scored 837 runs against CSK at an average of 41.85 and a strike rate of 127.98. This includes a 90 in the previous encounter between these two sides.
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: Tahir into the attack
With AB de Villiers just joining Kohli, it will be an interesting battle between him and his South Africa teammate Imran Tahir. It took him time to make it to CSK’s Playing XI and he’d want to prove it would have been a different situation for CSK had he been part of their XI from the beginning.
OUT! Padikkal falls for 22
GONE! A fine bit of teamwork in the deep by Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad as RCB lose their second wicket for 46. Padikkal went for the big one, but just didn’t connect it as well as he’d have liked. Du Plessis took the catch but fearing he might touch the boundary while falling with the ball in his hand, lobbed it in the air for Gaikwad to complete the catch.
FOUR! Padikkal timing the ball well
A second boundary for Padikkal, to go with a six. Nice pick up shot by the youngster to get 8 off the over. RCB 46/1 after 6 overs.
Kohli and Dhoni share a laugh
The current India captain and his predecessor indulge in a light moment. No idea what it’s about though. There’s no many match-winning moments between these two for Indian cricket. None the less, seven runs off Santner’s first over. RCB 38/1 after 5.
FOUR! Padikkal sweeps Santer
Mitchell Santner with the ball for the first time in IPL and he drifts one down Padikkal’s legs. He responds smartly playing the sweep shot and finds the gap to get himself a boundary.
OUT! Curran strikes in first over
GONE! Finch out for 15. Curran provides the breakthrough in his first over. Finch came down the wicket to a slower bouncer from Curran but managed a top edge. Ruturaj Gaikwad positions himself nicely behind the ball and completes the catch.
IPL 2020 Live Updates: Sam Curran in the attack
He did not bowl at all in the previous game against Mumbai Indians, but Sam Curran has come in here as first change for CSK. A single and a wide to start with.
Has Deepak Chahar lost his spunk?
He was quite the revelation for CSK in IPL 2018 and equally effective the year after. But this season, things haven’t quite gone the way for Deepak Chahar after recovering from the groin injury. Three overs gone, RCB are 26/0
Short and wide... and Padikkal goes after it
First SIX of the match. Short and wide delivery from Deepak Chahar and Padikkal’s eyes light up. Gave it his all to send the ball sailing over backward point. Padikkal is away. Chahar responds with a couple of in-dipping deliveries.
Finch gets it away fine
A third boundary for Aaron Finch as he finishes the over with four. Good start from Kumar. RCB 18/0 after 2 overs.
RCB vs CSK Live Score: Was there an edge?
Finch pulls and misses. But the commentators doubt there was a sound as the ball passed the bat. Was there an edge? Nope, nothing on the Ultra Edge.
Debutant Monu Kumar shares the new ball
Man of the moment, Monu Kumar, making his IPL debut starts off with a little outswinger to Padikkal. Starts with two dots. Encouraging signs as he gets a bit of a shape away.
First boundary for Finch
After two balls moved away from Finch, Dhoni decided to walk up to the stumps. Next two balls, Finch knocks off back to back boundaries to take CSK to 11/0 after the first over.
RCB and Padikkal off the mark
Early movement from Deepak Chahar, gets the ball to move in towards the left hander. Padikkal dabs the ball to third man for a single and RCB are off the mark.
First ball coming up!
Devdutt Padikkal, who is out along with Aaron Finch, marks his guard. Deepak Chahar has the new ball. It’s game times, folks. The Southern Derby is underway.

CSK Playing XI
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, N Jagadeesan, MS Dhoni (Wicketkeeper/Captain), Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Monu Kumar
IPL 2020 Live: MS Dhoni on CSK’s mathematical chance of making the playoffs
“We would have loved to bat first as well, same reason, it’s a used wicket. Mathematically we still have a chance, but you have to think how we have done in this season. 4-5 games prior we just took one game at a time and not worry about the points table. If we win it will take care of itself. We are looking at faces who haven’t got chances.”
RCB Playing XI
1 Devdutt Padikkal, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Virat Kohli (Captain), 4 AB de Villiers (Wicketkeeper), 5 Moeen Ali, 6 Gurkeerat Singh Mann, 7 Chris Morris, 8 Washington Sundar, 9 Navdeep Saini, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: One change for RCB
Virat Kohli has informed that RCB have made one change in their Playing XI. All-rounder Moeen Ali comes in for left-arm fast bowler Isuru Udana.
Captain’s Corner: What Kohli has to say
It’s pretty dry, rough. It’s interesting when the weather was hot the pitches weren’t playing well. The temperatures have dropped now but it’s slowing down.
TOSS: RCB opt to bat after Kohli wins toss
RCB will be batting first, Kohli says the decision is a ‘no-brainer’. The last 4 matches has seen teams chasing win. Can CSK take that as a motivation?
We’re just a couple of minutes away from the toss. Here we go. CSK vs RCB, Round 2 of the Southern Derby coming up.
Did you know?
This has been RCB’s best season since 2011 in terms of the kind of start they’ve had. Also, RCB have stuck to one opening combination - Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal. With AB de Villiers keeping wickets, it has allowed RCB and Kohli to settle on a balance XI.
The rivalry so far...
A montage aired on television summing up the rivalry shared between RCB and CSK, and also Dhoni and Kohli. From 2013, the season where Kohli took over captaincy of the team, RCB and CSK have been at each other’s throats making for one of IPL’s greatest rivalry. For the most part, CSK have got the better of RCB, but what a turnaround it has been this season.
We’re getting there. Half an hour left for toss
With playoff chances done and dusted, CSK will hope to play for pride and be aiming to end their IPL 2020 campaign with some wins under the belt. A strong RCB stand in their way, who have their sights set on the final four. Here’s our preview for today’s game.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK: Significant game for Padikkal
If you’re a Devdutt Padikkal fan, this little nugget will interest you. The 20-year-old needs 99 runs to reach 1000 runs in T20 cricket. Can he make the occasion special by getting a century? After all, he does have what it takes to get there.
IPL 2020 Live: Will Kohli hit his 200th IPL six today?
With 199 sixes, Virat Kohli sits fifth on the list of all-time IPL six hitters behind Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, all of who have more than 200 sixes. Kohli is set to be the latest addition in this elusive group. The only question is, can he get there today itself?
Win toss bat first?
The last four games have seen the side batting second emerge victorious, and it’s something that will surely be playing on the minds of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: What will CSK’s XI look like?
With their campaign in doldrums, and their playoff chances all but over, MS Dhoni has the license to give an opportunity to some youngster. Yes, the same bunch in whom Dhoni is yet to see the ‘spark’. Ruturaj Gaikwad, N Jagadeesan, Monu Kumar, K Asif and R Sai Kishore are some players who have been benched this season. And with nothing to lose, expected a couple of these players to make it to the team’s Playing XI. Here’s our pick on CSK’s XI against RCB.
AB de Villiers on the cusp of a historic feat
Earlier this season, Virat Kohli became the first Indian player and the fifth batsman overall to go past 9000 runs in T20 cricket. On Sunday, AB de Villiers has the chance to join his RCB skipper in the list. If Mr. 360 can score 58 runs today against CSK, de Villiers will join the likes of Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, Brendon McCullum, David Warner and Kohli to enter Club 9K.
IPL 2020, RCB vs CSK Live Score: Will Jadeja answer Dhoni’s call?
Ravindra Jadeja has taken 20 wickets against RCB. It is his highest against any IPL opponent. If Jadeja grabs four wickets today, he will become the highest wicket-taker against RCB by a bowler from any team in the IPL.
Will Kohli trust Siraj with the new ball again?
The last match against KKR, was a match to remember for Mohammed Siraj. He bowled brilliantly in the powerplay picking up 3 wickets and ended his 4 overs spell having conceded just 8 runs. During his spell, Siraj also became the only bowler in IPL history to bowl two maiden overs in the same match.
RCB vs CSK Live Score: Just a Kohli clip in the nets to make your day
We said Go Green, but the folks at the ICC Academy perhaps misunderstood it and gave us a Test match wicket for practice. The joy on @imVkohli ’s face tells how much he relishes a challenge. 💚#PlayBold #IPL2020 #WeAreChallengers #Dream11IPL #RCBvCSK pic.twitter.com/mATTkEKJki— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 25, 2020
Can CSK conjure what it takes to stop RCB?
On current form, RCB are expected to steamroll CSK. At least, that’s the kind of form Dhoni’s team has shown in their previous two matches. They were beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets and blown over by 10 wickets by table-toppers Mumbai Indians. People may have their favourite teams, but CSK are believed to be looked up to by all for their resilience. Can that same resilience come to the fore in the final three matches?
How the IPL 2020 points table stands currently
Yesterday’s two games didn’t have much impact on the points table, barring one particular upward movement. Kings XI Punjab’s fourth consecutive win saw them move a place up in the leaderboard. Click here to see where your favourite team is positioned.

Extending my warm wishes to you and your family on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.🙏🏻🙂 #HappyDussehra— Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) October 25, 2020
Do CSK stand a chance?
In any other tournament, despite odds being against them, you would have backed CSK to turn the tables on a far superior side, but this has been that sort of a season for the three-time champions, hasn’t it? Nothing has worked for them. Three wins out of 11 games. Sticking with the same bunch of players, who are no spring chickens, hasn’t worked for them this time around. Dhoni pointed out how CSK are planning for the next season, but of things have to change, a complete overhaul is likely to be in order.
IPL 2020 Live Score: What happened the last time?
Earlier this season, CSK and RCB locked horns in Match 25, which saw Kohli’s RCB emerge victorious by 37 runs. Batting first, it was Kohli’s ruthless innings of 90 that lifted RCB to 169/4. CSK put up a pretty ordinary batting performance, finishing on 132/8 with Ambati Rayudu and N Jagadeesan being the only two significant contributers.
It’s time for Kohli vs Dhoni
Two of India’s most decorated captains, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli come face to face, which can only happen in the IPL. Kohli, who made his debut under Dhoni back in the year 2008, has risen to become the world’s best all-format batsman. Over the years, Dhoni nurtured him until Kohli finally took over India’s Test captaincy in 2014 and later in LOIs in 2017. Kohli’s India and CSK captaincy records are nowhere close to Dhoni, except in Tests. CSK have mostly gotten the better of RCB in IPL’s but this year the fortunes have changed, and how? Kohli’s RCB is on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs, while Dhoni’s CSK are preparing for next year.
IPL 2020 Live Score, RCB vs CSK
Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to our readers, who by the way are in for another Bumper Sunday as we bring you one of IPL’s most followed rivalries. The Kaveri Derby – which later came to be known as the ‘Southern Derby’ as Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings in Match 44 of the Indian Premier League 2020. For both teams, this contest holds contrasting significance. With 14 points, RCB are on the brink of sealing a place in the playoffs, and Virat Kohli’s unit, which is coming off back to back wins, will be looking to become the first team to enter the final four. For CSK however, all three remaining games from this point, are about playing for pride. With 8 defeats, CSK are all but eliminated from the race for the playoffs, but there’s nothing like ending the tournament on a high. It’s Kohli vs Dhoni in what promises to be a mega blockbuster, contrary to the common notion.
