Hashan Tillakaratne appointed temporary batting coach for Sri Lanka cricket team
Hashan Tillakaratne, who a key member for 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team, led the Sri Lanka cricket team in 11 Tests and has scored 11 centuries in his career of 83 Tests.
The Sri Lanka cricket team has roped in former cricketer Hashan Tillakaratne as their temporary batting coach ahead of the three-match home Test series against India.
Sri Lanka Cricket manager Asanka Gurusinha told ESPNCricinfo that Tillakaratne was given the post before the national team’s recent one-off Test match against Zimbabwe.
“Hashan has been with us since the recent Test match against Zimbabwe, actually. At this stage, for all the Tests he will be batting coach.”

“Most probably after the Indian series we’ll discuss with coach Nic Pothas and see what’s happening from there. With all his experience, there is a lot the batsmen can learn from him.”
Hashan Tillakaratne, who a key member for 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team for Sri Lanka, led the national team in 11 Tests and has scored 11 centuries in his career of 83 Tests.
The 50-year old was also a national selector for the Sri Lanka cricket team between January 2013 and April 2015.
