Jasprit Bumrah was simply too good for the visiting Sri Lankan side in the second Test match of the series in Bengaluru as the Indian pacer picked his eighth five-wicket haul in just his 29th Test and first at home to bundle out the visitors for just 109 and take a lead of 143 runs in the first innings. With the maiden fifer at home, Bumrah equalled the legendary Kapil Dev's incredible Test record while also scripting a huge Indian feat.

Bumrah's eight five-wicket hauls comprises two each in West Indies, England and South Africa and one apiece in Australia and India.
The tally also comprises two fifers against England, South Africa and West Indies and one each against Australia and Sri Lanka. The only team against which he is yet to pick a five-wicket haul is New Zealand.
Bumrah also became the fourth Indian bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in Day-Night Tests after Axar Patel (2), Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. And his 5/24 is now the second-best figure by an Indian seamer in pink-ball Tests after Ishant's 5 for 22 against Bangladesh in 2019.
Bumrah's 5 for 24 is also the best figures recorded by an Indian seamer against Sri Lanka, surpassing Ishant's 5 for 54 in Colombo in 2015 tie.
Overall, it is the third-best figure by a seamer after James Anderson's 5 for 16 in Leeds in 2016 and Pat Cummins' 6 for 23 in Brisbane in 2019.
Bumrah has now taken his tally to 120 wickets in 29 Tests, which is the 18th most by an Indian bowler.
