IND vs SL: Bumrah gives a cheeky reply to reporter's query on Jadeja's workload management after Mohali Test heroics

For a cricketer who has long been out of the team owing to injury, would want to have more game time as possible on return, especially after a breath-taking all-round show. Ravindra Jadeja produced one of those memorable and record-breaking performances in Mohali that helped India take a 1-0 lead in the series, yet there was a question pertaining to him being rested for the Pink Ball Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru and Jasprit Bumrah gave a cheeky reply.
Jadeja single-handedly wrapped up the visiting side, both with the bat and ball, in Mohali last week with India winning by an innings and 222 runs with two days to spare. He had only returned earlier this month during the T20I series against the Islanders after being on the sidelines with an injury since December.
He scored 175 runs in the first innings for India, who is now the highest-ever score by an Indian No.7 in Tests, surpassing the legendary Kapil Dev. He also picked nine wickets in the match, which included his 10th five-wicket haul in the format. With the all-round feat, Jadeja became the first ever cricketer to score more than 150 runs and pick 9 wickets in a single Test match.

Following the heroics, a reporter took to the pre-match presser on Friday to ask Bumrah on Jadeja's workload in Mohali Test and whether he will be rested for the Pink Ball game.
Laughing off the query, Bumrah replied saying, "I don't see any player to sit out after such a good game. He would want to replicate that performance and contribute more."
The Pink Ball game will be India's second Day-Night Test at home after having won against Bangladesh in the historic tie in 2019 at the Eden Gardens where Virat Kohli had scored his last international century, and against England in Ahmedabad in 2020. This will also mark the end of India's home Test contest in 2022.
