India captain Rohit Sharma also expressed his sympathies. "I feel for him honestly. This is probably the first time he's coming for the fisrst time with the England set up. It's not easy for anyone. It could be one of our guys who wanted to come to England and has been denied and is not available to get the visa. Undfortunately I dont sit in the visa office to give you more details on that. I hope he can make it here quickly and enjoy our country and play some cricket as well," said Rohit.

India then won the 2008/09 series before England pulled off the shocker of all shockers by beating India in 2012/13 2-1. They haven't really come close to repeating that feat since then, though, losing 4-0 on their next tour in 2016/17 and 3-1 in 2020/21.
