Earlier, Pooja Vastrakar struck with her very first delivery of the match, taking the wicket of West Indies captain Hayley Matthews and then went on to bowl a maiden-wicket to start off with. Shemaine Campbelle and Stefanie Taylor have managed to steady the West Indies innings somewhat and saw them through the powerplay. Eventually, their partnership went past the 50-run mark and saw the West Indies past the first 10 overs as well. Then came the fall for the West Indies as Deepti Sharma struck twice before a run out hampered their progress. In the process, Deepti became the highest wicket taker for India in T20Is.
