It has been a real struggle for Rajasthan Royals this season. The side seemed to have all bases covered on paper, but never found any momentum this year and hence, are languishing at number 8 on the points table. They are at a point of no return and need to win all their remaining matches if they are to have any hope of making it to the playoffs.

Perhaps, the biggest reason for their slump has been the dour form of Ben Stokes. A man with a huge reputation, Stokes has been a massive let down for the side, both with the bat and ball.

The all-rounder has only scored 112 runs and has been able to pick up only 6 wickets in the eight matches so far. He has struggled to find any form with the bat in the middle order and has been all at sea against the spinners.

He has been tried out at different spots but has not found his groove and this slump has cost Rajasthan dear all season. For a man who enjoys being in the spotlight, Stokes has been poor in pressure situations, especially with the ball in death overs.

He has conceded that he could have been more consistent for this side.

“I think everybody would want to be consistent, but you take it as it comes. Everyone wants to go out and do their best every time, but sometimes it doesn’t come off and you just wipe out that part. Also, if you do well, you can’t live off that,” he smiled.
