A target of 213 is never easy to chase in a T20 encounter and against a disciplined bowling attack like that of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab needed a solid start in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter.

However, it was not the case as Chris Gayle departed in the third over, brilliantly caught by Manish Pandey off Khaleel Ahmed. Mayank Agarwal was the next batsman and he added 60 off 39 balls to take KXIP forward. The partnership was starting to look threatening but Agarwal was dismissed by Rashid Khan in the ninth over.

Nicholas Pooran (21 off 10) played a quick-fire knock but a great catch by Bhuvneshwar Kumar meant that the visitors were three down with a required rate which was above 15. The fall of wickets continued as Rashid dismissed David Miller for 11 and then followed it up with the wicket of Ravichandran Ashwin on the next ball

KL Rahul (79 off 56, 4x4s, 5x6s) made a valiant effort with the bat but lacked support from the other end as Kings XI were restricted to 167 for eight. By virtue of this win, Sunrisers consolidated their fourth position in the table with 12 points from 12 games, while Kings XI are at 10 points from as many matches.
