Some positive signs, you want your batters in the top four to score runs. We got two changes. Big Oshane Thomas makes his IPL debut. He comes in for Ashton Turner. Dhawal Kulkarni is out and Varun Aaron replaces him.
Dinesh Karthik: It’s got a lot of grass cover on it and it’ll be a great batting wicket. One of the things is to keep right people in the right space. It’s very important that we get the best out of the players who are doing well. Prasidh comes in for KC Cariappa. Brathwaite comes in for Gurney.

RR opt to field
Rajasthan Royals opt to field against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Two changes for both sides as the pitch looks like a fine batting track.
Andre Russell’s IPL exploits deservingly earned him a place in the Jason Holder-led 15-member West Indies squad for the World Cup in England and Wales starting May 30.
Russell has been in prime form for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and has so far singlehandedly won four games for his franchise. However, Kieron Pollard of Mumbai Indians and Sunil Narine of KKR have not picked in the squad which also has 40-year-old Chris Gayle who will wear the West Indies jersey one last time.
Player Battle: Archer vs Russell
Andre Russell’s big-hitting ability had been the key to KKR’s initial success in the tournament and the men in purple would expect the Caribbean superstar to put on another saviour act tonight. In front of the power hitter will be Royals’ biggest weapon, England’s Jofra Archer. Archer’s extra pace and immaculate discipline could be the answer to the ruthlessness of Russell’s big blade.
Player Battle: Karthik vs Stokes
Two men who were expected to deliver the goods but have been below par with their performances this season have a chance to make amends. Stokes has been poor with the ball in hand and would like to make a difference in his last outing of the season. Karthik on the other hand has struggled as captain and a good hand with the bat will go a long way in pumping up his morale.
Player Battle: Smith vs Narine
The two players who will be expected to hold fort during the middle over with bat and ball respectively. Narine has dismissed Smith once before but it is the Australian who holds the edge in this duel. Smith could be the key for the Royals as they look to create a platform for a late assault, while KKR will expect Narine the spinner to pick the crucial wickets.
Robin Uthappa has been struggling with his own issues. While he has managed to score more runs than Karthik, 220 to be exact in nine matches but his strike rate of 119.56 has been a real cause of concern for the two-time champions.
Uthappa wasted a lot of deliveries, which proved to be costly in their last home game against RCB. KKR fell 10 short of the 214-run target. He was dropped in their last game and so was Kuldeep Yadav who has failed to shine this season going for lot of runs and failing to deceive the batsmen.
Five cricketers -- Karthik, Uthappa, wicket-keeper Nikhil Naik and pacers Shrikant Munde and Prithvi Raj Yarra -- went to Mumbai for a break, a move Kallis said was done to take the players away from the game a bit and re-energise.
Test for Karthik
Chosen ahead of the young Rishabh Pant in the World Cup squad in a debatable decision,Dinesh Karthik, who was KKR’s leading run-getter last season, is struggling for runs with an average of 16.71 from nine outings.
Facing a must-win situation ahead of the remaining four matches, head coach Jacques Kallis has backed the under-fire skipper to script a 2014-like turnaround when they won their second title with nine wins in a row.
