Will MS Dhoni continue to play after ODI World Cup 2019? Can’t he stretch till next year’s World T20 in Australia? Whether you are a Dhoni fan or not, these questions are bound to do the rounds inside your head if you have interest in the game. And you are definitely not the only one. Cricket’s parent body ICC itself decided to join the debate by deciding to directly ask the fans whether they want Dhoni to feature in the T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

“Do you wish to see fireworks from MS Dhoni’s willow at the 2020 T20 World Cup?” tweeted ICC on Sunday morning.

The tweet went viral within a few hours with a number of fans voting in the affirmative.

It all started when Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming and Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma pointed out Dhoni’s influence in the CSK side and his absence being a major reason behind their loss against MI.

Dhoni was forced to sit out from CSK’s last match against Mumbai Indians because of fever. CSK ended up losing by a comprehensive margin of 46 runs. This was the second time Dhoni missed a match this IPL and CSK lost on both occasions.

Dhoni has been in fantastic form in this IPL. He has not only led well but Dhoni has been the top run-scorer for CSK with 314 runs in 10 matches. He has scored three half-centuries in the season so far.

Despite Dhoni being in top form for CSK, he hasn’t been at his best for India in limited overs cricket of late, giving rise to speculations that the upcoming ODI World Cup in England might turn out to be his last. However, fans believe otherwise.
