Born on August 27, 1996, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Aamir Abdul Gani is a technically sound right-handed lower-middle-order batter and crafty right-arm off-break bowler who has built a distinguished domestic career representing Bengal and various regional outfits like the Adamas Howrah Warriors in the Bengal Pro T20 League.
Gani first caught national attention as a teenage prospect, earning selection in India’s squad for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in the UAE. He made his first-class debut for Bengal during the 2014-15 domestic season, showcasing an ability to extract sharp turn and bounce from subcontinental pitches while offering resilient lower-order contributions.
Over the years, Gani established himself as a vital red-ball component for Bengal, highlighted by disciplined spells and crucial partnership-building with the bat. His standout first-class bowling performance came when he registered career-best figures of 6/34, underlining his capacity to run through batting line-ups on wearing tracks. In addition to his multi-day exploits, he has been a consistent figure across white-ball formats, featuring prominently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments.
Moving through the 2024-25 and 2025-26 domestic blocks, Gani continued to anchor Bengal's spin department alongside appearing in domestic T20 leagues like the Bengal Pro T20. As Bengal commenced their campaign in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season in October 2026, Gani remains a trusted veteran in the squad, picking up 5 wickets in their season's first match, against Delhi.
