Akash Anand has steadily built his reputation as a dependable wicketkeeper-batter in Mumbai cricket, with his patience and ability to bat long innings standing out in the longer format. A right-hander, Anand has also gained experience outside India, representing Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in Sri Lanka in 2022, making his List A debut and registering a golden duck in his first game, before bouncing back with an unbeaten half-century in his second. He only played three games before progressing into Mumbai's senior setup.
He made his mark during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy campaign, producing two important centuries in Mumbai's run to the semi-finals. After making 103 against Meghalaya in the group stage, Anand followed it up with a determined 106 against Vidarbha in the last-four clash at Nagpur. His century came in a difficult situation as Mumbai slipped to 113/5, but he helped them recover before eventually being dismissed for 106 off 256 balls.
That season proved to be an important step forward for Anand, who finished with 280 runs from six innings and two hundreds. Beyond his batting, his work behind the stumps has also made him a trusted option within Mumbai's setup. He also represented the NaMo Bandra Blasters in the T20 Mumbai League, adding another dimension to his growing experience, and was subsequently named in the Mumbai squad for the Ranji Trophy 2026/27.
