Ishan Om is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and left-handed lower-order batter from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Known for his classical approach to spin bowling, he relies on flight, drift, and subtle pace variations rather than flat speed.
Om advanced through the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) age-group ecosystem, featuring regularly in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 domestic seasons. His ability to bowl disciplined, lengthy spells earned him a spot in Jharkhand's senior red-ball squad. He made his senior first-class debut for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals in February 2026 against Uttarakhand at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur, at 17 years of age.
In September 2026, Om was selected for the India Under-19 squad for the home series against Australia Under-19. During the 1st Youth Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, he delivered a breakthrough international performance, claiming 5 for 53 in the first innings and 4 for 62 in the second innings to set up a victory by an innings and 48 runs for India U19.
