Born on September 6, 2001, Kodimela Himateja is a left-handed batter who can also contribute with his right-arm off-spin. Hailing from Adilabad, he became the first cricketer from the erstwhile district to represent Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy, marking a significant milestone in his journey. Himateja made his first-class debut against Gujarat in October 2024 and made an immediate impression with a half-century in his first innings. He went on to make his List A debut for Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy later that year and continued to make steady progress in domestic cricket.
His breakthrough in the longer format came with a century against Rajasthan during his debut Ranji season, while he produced another standout performance in the 2025/26 campaign with a career-best 171 against Chhattisgarh. He finished the season with 485 runs in 7 games. Himateja has also made his mark in the shorter format, scoring 461 runs in eight matches for Anvita Khammam Aces in the 2026 Sreenidhi University TG20, playing a key role in their run to the final. His performances earned him a place in the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy 2026. His aggressive batting, growing experience across formats, and useful off-spin make him an exciting young prospect from Hyderabad's domestic setup.
