Suraj Kumar Kashyap, born on August 14, 2003, in Jehanabad, Bihar, is an Indian domestic cricketer who represents Bihar as a right-handed lower-middle-order batter and a right-arm off-break bowler. Trained under coach Santosh at the YCC Academy, he steadily carved out a path to senior state-level cricket despite facing initial struggles during his school and boarding days.
His entry into professional senior cricket arrived during the 2020-21 domestic season. He made his T20 debut for Bihar during the quarter-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on January 27, 2021, followed shortly by his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 24, 2021. Across limited-overs domestic cricket, he established himself as a controlled off-spinner and a handy lower-order batter.
A major breakthrough in his young career came in early 2026 during the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy (Under-23 Plate Group). Suraj delivered a dominant overall campaign, picking up 31 wickets across 5 matches at an economy rate of 2.34, featuring three five-wicket hauls, to finish as the tournament's leading wicket-taker. His match-winning performances and all-round contribution led Bihar to victory over Nagaland in the final, earning him the Player of the Series award.
He carried that momentum directly into the first-class arena, making his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar in the 2025-26 season against Sikkim. Showing immediate maturity with both bat and ball, he impressed in multi-day cricket by registering a top score of 83 and bowling figures of 6/66 against Manipur in the same match in January 2026.
Trusting his talent and hardwork, he retained his spot in the Bihar Ranji Trophy team for the 2026-27 season, and produced another brilliant all-round performance, picking 3/100 with the ball, while also making handy contributions with the bat against Uttar Pradesh in October 2026.
