Tarang Gohel is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Bhavnagar who has emerged through the Saurashtra domestic system as an aggressive white-ball option. Born in 1999, he has represented Saurashtra as well as the Aryan Sorath Lions and Anmol Kings Halar in the Saurashtra Premier League. He is also listed as a right-arm medium bowler, although his primary role has been with the bat and behind the stumps.
Gohel's rise has largely come through the shorter formats. He featured in the inaugural Saurashtra Premier League in 2019 for Aryan Sorath Lions and made an impression with his attacking approach, striking at more than 180 in the tournament. He remained involved in the competition in subsequent seasons and was among the leading run-scorers in the 2022 edition, making 154 runs in four matches at an average of 38.50. Those performances helped establish him as one of the more promising young batting options in the Saurashtra circuit.
His domestic breakthrough eventually came with Saurashtra. Gohel made his List A debut in 2024 and also moved into the first-class setup, although opportunities have been limited with Saurashtra possessing established wicketkeepers and top-order batters. He was part of the squad for the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season and subsequently remained around the senior side, including being named in the squad during the 2025-26 campaign.
The strongest evidence of Gohel's appeal remains his explosive batting in T20 cricket. His domestic T20 record has been built around a high-tempo approach, with a strike rate above 180. He has also shown that he can contribute in the middle and lower order, giving his side an attacking option who can change the momentum of an innings quickly. He was also named in the Saurashtra squad for the Ranji Trophy 2026/27, where he would hope for more opportunities in the longest format.
