During Rohit's knock on the second afternoon of the first Test between India and Australia in Nagpur, broadcasters Star Sports showed the best conversion rates for Indian batters who have at least scored 10 half-centuries in Tests at home. Rohit had a 50 per cent rate, tad lower that Kohli's 52. However, standing at the top of the list is Vijay with a conversion rate of 60 per cent, having scored nine tons in 30 appearances at home.
The graphic left Manjrekar astonished. “I am surprised to see Murali at the top,” he said on-air.
Vijay was left furious at Manjrekar's comment. He immediately took to Twitter saying, “@sanjaymanjrekar Surprised wow”. He then went one step ahead and blasted the former India cricketer tweeting, “Some Mumbai ex players can never be appreciative of the south ! #showsomelove #equality #fairplayforall @sanjaymanjrekar @BCCI”.
Vijay recently announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. The 38-year-old has appeared in 61 Tests, scoring 3982 runs with 12 tons and played in 17 ODIs and 9 T20Is, amassing 339 and 169 runs respectively.
Talking about the Nagpur Test, India are presently on 151 for three with Rohit batting on 85*. The hosts trail Australia by 26 runs.
