Virat Kohli, Anil Kumble push BCCI for fast bowling coach

The India team again looks close to having a fast bowling coach. Chief coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli discussed the issue with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Sunday and indications are that the BCCI is in agreement, according to sources.

The BCCI did not name a replacement to Bharat Arun when they chose Kumble as successor to Ravi Shastri last June. India now have a solid bunch of pacers in Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma as well as all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Kumble and Kohli also wanted batting coach Sanjay Bangar to be designated assistant coach and paid between Rs 3-4 crore, although the CoA have not agreed for that as yet.

The captain and coach, who also pushed for a big salary hike to the squad, wanted the BCCI to henceforth appoint only a professional administrator as India team manager and not hand the job to any cricket official as a favour.
