Watch: Virat Kohli smashes massive hits against spinners Chahal, Ashwin in training session ahead of Asia Cup 2022
Virat Kohli took part in India's first training session ahead of their blockbuster opening clash against Pakistan on August 28 in the Asia Cup 2022.
Team India will return to action in the shortest format of the game on Sunday this week with the mouth-watering clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in men's Asia Cup 2022. The game is set to see the return of India's star batter Virat Kohli, who had been rested for the side's previous two limited-overs tours of the West Indies and Zimbabwe. Kohli has been going through a rough patch over the past few months and will be aiming to regain form when he returns to the national colours in the continental tournament.

Team India had its first training session for the Asia Cup on Wednesday and Kohli was among the many batters who broke sweat during the net sessions. Interestingly, the 33-year-old India great looked to take on the spinners almost immediately during the net session, which could signify a change in mindset. Kohli stepped out against Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin during the nets, and even let out a chuckle when he failed to connect one properly.

The former India captain's rough patch has drawn attention from around the world; he had scored only one half-century in 16 matches in the 2022 Indian Premier League, and had the best score of 20 in six matches across all formats in the India's tour of England in July.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam had also taken to his official Twitter profile to lend support to Kohli, and the two batters met during the sidelines of their respective training sessions on Wednesday too.
The meeting between India and Pakistan will be the first in men's cricket since the 2021 T20 World Cup last year, where Babar's side had cruised to a 10-wicket win. Pakistan had faced a huge setback ahead of this year's Asia Cup, however, as their leading pacer Shaheen Afridi was ruled out from the tournament due to a knee injury.
