WPL 2023 Points Table: Delhi Capitals qualify for finals, Mumbai Indians to face UP Warriorz in playoff

Delhi Capitals defeated UP Warriorz by five wickets in the final league match of WPL 2023, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The win helped DC climb to top spot, and book a direct berth into the final. Meanwhile, UPW will face Mumbai Indians in their playoff fixture, for a berth in the final.
Chasing a target of 139 runs, Delhi reached 142/5 in 17.5 overs, courtesy of a knock of 39 runs off 23 balls by Meg Lanning. Meanwhile, Shabnim Ismail took two wickets for UPW. Initially, UPW reached 138/6 in 20 overs, with Tahlia McGrath slamming an unbeaten knock of 58 runs off 32 balls. Alice Capsey was in good bowling form for DC and took three wickets, Radha Yadav bagged two dismissals.

Meanwhile, MI defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second-last league game by four wickets, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Chasing a target of 126 runs, MI reached 129/6 in 16.3 overs, with Amelia Kerr slamming an unbeaten knock of 31 runs off 27 balls. Kanika Ahuja took two wickets for RCB. Initially, RCB posted 125/9 in 20 overs, with Richa Ghosh hitting 29 off 13 balls. Amelia Kerr was in hot form and took three wickets for MI, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Issy Wong took two wickets each respectively. After the win, MI climbed to top spot, but Delhi's victory sent Harmanpreet Kaur's side to second position. MI will face UPW in their playoff fixture. Also RCB and Gujarat Giants haven't qualified for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals finished the league phase on top of the table with 12 points from eight matches (six wins and two defeats), followed by Mumbai Indians in second position with 12 points from eight fixtures (six wins and two defeats). Both teams were level on points, but Lanning's side had a better net run rate, which sent them to the final.
Meanwhile, UP Warriorz finished in third position with eight points from eight matches (four wins and four defeats). They will face Mumbai in the playoffs for a berth in the final. Royal Challengers Bangalore ended up as fourth with four points from eight games (two wins and six defeats) and Gujarat Giants were fifth with four from eight fixtures (two wins and six defeats).
The playoff fixture between MI and UPW will take place on Friday, at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the winner of the playoff will face DC in the final on Sunday, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
