79.78 % pass CBSE Class 12 exams in Uttarakhand, girls outperform boys in state again

The Dehradun region of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which declared the Class 12 examination results board on Saturday, said that 79.78% of students from Uttarakhand who wrote the board exams have passed.

The Dehradun region of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which declared the Class 12 examination results board on Saturday, said that 79.78% of students from Uttarakhand who wrote the board exams have passed.

The pass percentage in the state was 4.71% more than that of last year’s 75.07%, board officials said.

This year too, the first position in the state was bagged by a girl in the board examinations.

Tanuja Kapri, a student of Haridwar’s Gayatri Vidyapeeth Shantikunj who stood third in the region, topped the state with a total score of 497.

The Dehradun region of the CBSE includes Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh. A total 33,909 candidates of 405 CBSE-affiliated schools registered for the examinations this year of which 33,704 candidates wrote the exams while 205 were absent.

Out of the total candidates, 26,890 passed while 3,644 failed to crack the examinations. The passing percentage of the Dehradun region was 76.77% in 2018 against last year’s 74.94%.

Girls once again outperformed boys in the state with a pass percentage of 85.21% against 76.06% of boys.

Sapna Negi, a student of Dehradun’s Army Public School, Clement Town and Kavya Arora of Uddham Singh Nagar’s Bhartiyam Inter School stood second in the state with an identical score of 496 marks.

Tanuja Kapri, Sapna Negi and Kavya Arora from the state were placed among the top ten of the region.

The top three ranks in Dehradun were bagged by Sapna Negi, who stood first in the city and the second in the state, followed by Guntash Obhan from Ecole Globale Girls International School with 495 marks, who stood second and Bhasker Rawat from Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Colony, stood third with 494 marks.

Among the 13 districts of Uttarakhand, the highest passing percentage was in Rudraprayag with 94.59% while the lowest was in Pithoragarh with 74.44%.

Expressing happiness over the results of both the region and Uttarakhand, Dehradun regional officer Ranber Singh said: “The admirable outcome is the result of hard-work and dedication of the students along with the efforts of the CBSE. The board in the region will continue to put in more efforts to improve the results next year.”
