The Supreme Court will hear the matter related to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) affiliation to Uttarakhand Cricket Association on February 23, said Divye Nautiyal, the state cricket association secretary on Tuesday.

The BCCI administrative committee has filed the status report over the affiliation issue to the apex court, which was sought by the apex court.

The SC had sought the BCCI administrative committee’s report after hearing an appeal of the state cricket body, seeking the BCCI affiliation to the state cricket body through a petition filed in November 2017, Nautiyal said.

The court has fixed February 23 as the next date of hearing in the matter.

Uttarakhand is seeking the BCCI affiliation since the state was carved out of Uttar Pradesh in 2000. In the absence of BCCI affiliation to the state cricket body, a large number of players from the state are forced to play from the teams of other states.
