Two other members of his team sustained injuries and were admitted to Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani.

Chief minister TS Rawat expressed grief on the demise of the 34-year-old folk singer.

Kathgodam police station in-charge Kamaal Hasan said they received information on Saturday morning that a car had met with an accident at Haidakhan at 7.30 am after tumbling down the road.

“Though it is a revenue police area, we rushed to the spot to assist in rescue operations,” he said.

Hasan said deceased were identified as Karki, Rajendra Gauniya and Pushkar Gauniya.

Karki, an upcoming singer, made a good name for himself in Uttarakhand.

On Friday night, he performed at Goniyaro village in Nainital district. After finishing his show at 3 am, Karki along with his team members was returning to Haldwani, where he lived.

Karki has opened a studio in Damuwadhunga, Haldwani where he was giving training in music to budding singers.

Karki is originally from Thal in Pithoragarh district. Many of his albums had become a hit in Uttarakhand.
