Kapil Mishra targets Kejriwal with ‘proof’ of land deal and money exchange
Aam Aadmi Party said there was no question of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal resigning. Party leader Sanjay Singh said Kapil Mishra is acting on behest of the BJP.
Sacked Aam Aadmi Party leader Kapil Mishra fired fresh salvo at chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday evening, claiming that health minister Satyendar Jain had told him that he was “settling a Rs 50 crore land deal” for the CM’s brother-in-law in Chhattarpur area.
“Satyendar Jain himself told me that he managed a Rs 50 crore land deal in Chhattarpur (south Delhi) for Kejriwal’s brother-in-law. The deal was finalised for the Bansal family,” Mishra said.
Following the renewed charges, the Delhi health minister broke his silence and said that he was not present at the chief minister’s house on the day as claimed by Mishra. He will also reportedly file a defamation suit against Mishra in the wake of his claims. Earlier in the day, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh had rallied behind Kejriwal and junked the charges levelled by Mishra. They had said that Kejriwal will not step down as the Delhi CM.
Responding to reports that the party brass was planning to take action against him in the meeting of its political affairs committee, Kapil Mishra dared the leadership to expel him. Mishra had earlier met the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and submitted proof in the water tanker scam. He also said that he had got an appointment to meet CBI on Tuesday and will submit his complaint related to unaccounted cash transaction.
Party leader Sanjay Singh said that action against Mishra will be decided in the PAC meeting. He said Mishra was acting on behest of BJP that demanded Kejriwal’s resignation after Mishra said that he had seen Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain allegedly handing Rs 2 crore to Kejriwal last week.
“Why isn’t Kapil Mishra telling us the time and date of visiting Arvind Kejriwal’s house? He is implying that Kejriwal himself invited him to be a witness of him taking a bribe from Satyendar Jain? He is also claiming of an alleged land deal, if so, why isn’t he revealing the name of that relative for whom he claims the deal was done? Mishra is acting on behest of the BJP and the Centre,” Singh said at a press conference in Delhi on Monday.
Criticizing the opposition of cashing in on the AAP crisis, Singh said, “Leaders of BJP, Congress have been involved in a slew of scams, these parties do not have moral grounds to demand resignation of the CM.”
Mishra was removed as the water and tourism minister in Kejriwal’s cabinet on Saturday night for “mismanagement in water supply”. Mishra promised an “expose” soon after. He said he submitted proof against Kejriwal in DJB’s water tanker scam to anti-corruption branch (ACB) on Monday morning and would also take the matter to CBI next.
The party further showed a letter Kapil Mishra had written on September 24 last year where he expressed concerns about the ACB being “under pressure” from the Centre. “In this letter, Mishra himself wrote that the ACB is under pressure and is trying all means to conspire against Arvind Kejriwal. Why didn’t he then not name Kejriwal for being corrupt? So all these are baseless allegations which Mishra is levelling only because he is in shock for being removed as a minister,” Sanjay Singh added.
Singh further said that the BJP has been trying to implicate AAP leaders by fabricating cases only to crush opposition.
Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders, including leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta and Rajouri Garden MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, met Delhi L-G Anil Baijal to demand action in the matter.
