The woman, a state-level shooter, tried to shoot her father who overpowered her.

Though the reason for her action remains unclear, police said the woman, Sangeeta Singh, had reportedly been depressed for the past one year and was undergoing treatment.

Around 12.30am on Friday, Sangeeta, who was allegedly drunk, used her licensed pistol to shoot at her 75-year-old mother Geeta and her elder brother Harsaran, 48, police said. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is stable.

Police said Sangeeta, who had reportedly consumed sleeping pills and alcohol before the incident, had to hospitalised because of the impact the cocktail had on her body.

“We are yet to find the motive. The victims’ statements will be recorded once we get permission from doctors,” said a police officer.
