Factory gutted in fire in Delhi’s Udyog Nagar area

Fire department officials said twenty-five fire tenders were sent to douse the fire.

A factory in North West Delhi’s Peeragarhi was gutted in a fire on Tuesday evening.

Fire fighting operations continued for nearly three hours. No casualty was reported as the fire had broken out after all the workers had left the factory.

A fire department official said they received a call around 7:30 pm about a fire breaking out in one of the units in Udyog Nagar, an industrial area in North West Delhi.

As many as 25 fire tenders were sent to the douse the flames. Fire fighting operations were on till 10:30 pm. The fire official said almost the entire factory was burnt but the fire did not spread to the adjoining units.

This is the second major factory fire in two days. In the early hours of Monday, another major fire was reported in a plastic factory in Narela Industrial Area.

The fire broke out in the two storey factory building around 1:30 am and it took several hours to douse it. The building collapsed due to the heat but a group of factory workers sleeping inside were rescued in the Narela fire.
