The U-turn had been constructed at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore near the traffic rotary in Karhera, to ease the flow of traffic to the Hindon elevated road and towards the Hindon overbridge that goes towards Mohan Nagar and the Hindon airbase.

“The U-turn will ease the flow of traffic from Raj Nagar Extension. The road strengthening and beautification of the central verge work at Tigri roundabout have also been completed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore,” Ritu Maheshwari, vice-chairperson of the authority.

Currently, vehicles coming from Karhera, Raj Nagar Extension, GT Road and the Hindon elevated road use the rotary to move in orderly fashion towards their destinations.

The U-turn at the rotary will allow seamless movement of traffic. It has been constructed almost 200 metres from the rotary on the main Raj Nagar Extension road. Traffic coming from RNE will now skip the signal and move straight. After taking the U-turn, commuters will have a straight access to the elevated road, the Karhera river overbridge and Raj Nagar Extension.

Officials said the traffic signal will be removed once the U-turn is opened.

The road strengthening and beautification of the central verge near the Tigri roundabout will also ease traffic flow towards Greater Noida. Tigri roundabout is on the border of Ghaziabad near Vijay Nagar.

According to officials, the road strengthening work in Karpuripuram locality was also completed at a cost of 88.58 lakh.

The authority officials said they have taken up the beautification and greenery works on seven major roads – Apsara border to Lal Kuan, Thakudwara to Dasna Gate, Tigri roundabout to Vijay Nagar, Meerut crossing to NH-24, Raj Nagar Extension to Karhera rotary, at Lohiya Nagar industrial area and the Hindon airbase near Mohan Nagar.

Of these, the beatification works of Tigri roundabout to Vijay Nagar, Meerut crossing to NH-24 and Raj Nagar Extension to Karhera rotary have been completed so far
