NEW DELHI: Delhi University has asked its colleges to not refuse admission to candidates from reserved categories if they apply under the unreserved category as long as they meet the cutoff criteria.

The university’s dean of students’ welfare JM Khurana in a letter to all colleges said: “It is reiterated that no applicant, including OBC/SC/ST categories, shall be refused admissions in the unreserved category as long as the applicant satisfies the cutoff criteria, subject to the verification of documents”.

The notice comes a day after some students alleged that they were refused admission in the unreserved category even though they were meeting the cutoff in the unreserved category.

The dean also asked colleges to allow students to get printout of their admission forms from the college. “This is to request you to please provide facility of printing of “Admissions Forms” in your college of those candidates, who were eligible to take admissions in your college,” university said.

The letter asked colleges to consider all eligible candidates who report for admission during the time duration of 9am to 1pm.

“The colleges are supposed to consider all the eligible candidates who report for admission during the time duration of 9 A.M - 1 P.M as the time for submission of online admission fee payment is up to noon (3rd July, 2016),” the letter said.

He requested all the colleges to adopt a student-friendly approach for the admission and to activate the grievance committees in their respective colleges.
