The employees had gone to deposit the money in a private bank near the Metro station when the robbery took place around 12.20 pm.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the robbers were carrying firearms. They brandished the weapons when some people tried to chase them. Since the robbers did not fire any bullet, nobody in the crowd was hurt.

A senior police officer said the victims, Naresh and Vijay Pal, worked for Ba laji trading company. Around 12.10pm, the two arrived outside the private bank near the Metro station on a motorcycle.

Vijay Pal was holding a bag containing `10 lakh, while Naresh was parking the motorcycle when two unidentified men approached them on a bike. Soon the robbers threw red chilli powder in the eyes of the unsuspecting employees.

“As the two screamed in pain, the robbers snatched the bag from Vijay Pal and tried to speed away. The com motion alerted locals. But they whipped out their pistols and warded them off,” said the officer.
