NEW DELHI: Family members of the Aam Aadmi Party worker who committed suicide met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday even as the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to corner the government over the incident.

Leader of opposition Vijender on Thursday protested at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house in Civil Lines.

“There was deep resentment among the demonstrators that the CM had gone into a silent mode and is busy in Gujarat politics at the cost of Delhi and its affairs,” said Gupta. Protesters were carrying placards demanding resignation of Kejriwal and DCW chief Swati Maliwal.

Gupta demanded a CBI inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of the AAP worker.

Later in the day, the BJP organised a candle light march from Jantar Mantar to Connaught Place’s Central Park.

BJP national vice-president Shyam Jaju said women were the most neglected and harassed under the Kejriwal’s government.

“People of Delhi are shocked by the working style of Arvind Kejriwal. Every person raises only one question, how can a chief minister be so insensitive towards a woman worker of his own party who complained about her exploitation?” Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said.

Earlier, family members of the victim met Kejriwal in his office at Delhi Secretariat. Her two daughters, father and father-in-law met the CM. Sources said the CM assured the family of “all help”.

“The government has always been extending its help to the family. The government had stepped in when the victim had approached the public grievance cell in the CM office. The DCP was informed about the case soon after and the FIR was filed. While the chief minister requested the family members to take the case to its logical end, he assured the family of all help in the process,” a government spokesperson said.
